What is the Grade Calculator?
A grade calculator figures out your overall course grade based on how different assignments, tests, and projects are weighted. Most courses don't treat every assignment equally, a midterm might count for 30%, participation for 10%, and the final exam for 40%. How Does It Work?
Weighted grade calculation multiplies each score by its weight in the course, then sums the results.
Formula:
Overall Grade = Σ (Score × Weight) ÷ Σ Weight
For a final exam scenario:
Needed Final Score = (Target Grade, Current Weighted Average) ÷ Final Exam Weight
Score: your percentage score on each component
Weight: the percentage that component counts toward the final grade

A student wants to know what they need on the final exam to finish the course with a B (80%).
Homework (20%): scored 88 — weighted: 17.6
Midterm (30%): scored 74 — weighted: 22.2
Quizzes (15%): scored 91 — weighted: 13.65
Final Exam (35%): not yet taken
Current weighted total: 53.45 out of 65%
Needed: (80 − 53.45) ÷ 0.35 = 26.55 ÷ 0.35 = 75.86
Output: They need at least a 75.9% on the final exam to earn a B.
