What is the Age Calculator?
The Age Calculator tells you exactly how old someone is, in years, months, and days. It sounds simple, but the precise count is surprisingly tricky to do by hand, especially when leap years and month lengths come into play. People use it for filling out forms, checking eligibility for age-restricted services, planning milestone birthdays, or just satisfying curiosity. CalciHub's version gives you the full breakdown and works for any birthdate, past or future.
How Does It Work?
The calculator subtracts the birth date from today's date (or any target date you specify), accounting for the uneven lengths of months and leap years.
Age = Target Date − Date of Birth
The result is broken into:
• Years: complete 12-month cycles since birth
• Months: remaining complete months after the last birthday
• Days: remaining days after the last complete month
Leap years are handled automatically, the calculator knows February gets 29 days every 4 years (with minor exceptions for century years).
How to Use CalciHub's Age Calculator
1. Enter your date of birth in the date field (day, month, year).
2. Leave the "as of" date on today's date, or change it to any date you want.
3. Click Calculate.
4. Your age appears in years, months, and days.
Tip: To check age at a specific future date, say, for retirement eligibility, just change the "as of" field to that date instead of leaving it on today.
A Quick Example
Someone born on March 15, 1990, wants to know their exact age as of August 10, 2025.
Date of birth: March 15, 1990
As of date: 10 August 2025
Result:
35 years, 4 months, and 26 days
The 26 days come from counting from July 15 (the last monthly anniversary) to August 10. This level of detail is often needed for legal or medical paperwork where "35 years old" isn't specific enough.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Leap year logic is built in. If your birthday falls on February 29, the calculator handles the years where that date doesn't exist by rounding to the closest valid day.
Absolutely — just enter their birth date. The calculator doesn't require any login or personal data.
Change the "as of" field to whatever future date you want. This is useful for checking whether you'll meet an age requirement by a deadline.
Day-count differences usually come from how each tool handles the last partial month. CalciHub counts complete months first, then remaining days within that month — which is the most common convention.
Yes, always free. No account needed.
